Gypsy & Traveller site to be set up in Calne? (updated 4th June)
Local residents have expressed concern over plans to provide permanent sites for gypsies and travellers in the Calne area. The possible sites are on Oxford Road and Abberd Lane.
Coming up in May
We've recently updated our What's On Guide for May, here's some of our picks:
Sport & Recreation
Calne residents of all ages will find a full range of sporting and recreational facilities available for them within the town and nearby.
The recently re-opened Calne Leisure Centre offers something for everyone within the community, whether you are a sports person or someone looking to meet others in the pursuit of leisure. Facilities include a state of the art gym, a gala swimming pool and squash courts.
Calne as a Place to Live
Many people have chosen Calne as their home, recognising the quality of life and benefits of living in a small market town surrounded by accesible countryside and historic landmarks.
The town offers new residents a slower pace of life and a sense of community, where people know your name and where you can enjoy the facilities and opportunities the town has to offer.
Transport in the Calne area
Calne has a moderately well connected transport network; local buses link the town with railway stations at Chippenham, Swindon and Bath, a national coach service runs to London, and the local Wigglybus service runs to neighbouring villages.
