Under the forthcoming Unitary Authority changes, some of the functions of the District council will be taken over by Area Boards. The Area Boards need to find out what it is the PEOPLE of Calne and surrounding villages want/need. The Calne Community Area Panel(CCAP) has been tasked find out. This task has been delegated to CAIAC.

The ECalne project is an open access scheme to provide FREE IT support for anyone in Calne who wishes to either gain knowledge of computers or who wishes to improve their skills.

There are various sites around Calne where training is available and there are sites where you can just drop in and use the resource for FREE!!

As the discussion over whether to continuously fly the Union Flag from Calne Town Hall continues to rumble on, Linda Roberts, Town Clerk at Calne Town Council, has released the following statement on the Gazette & Herald's website:

Our Flickr group now has over 100 past and present photos, and we're looking to add more - do you have any photos of Calne and the surrounding area? Why not add them to our Fickr group!

After a 6 week consultation period, during which over 700 Calne residents attended a public meeting, the Executive at North Wiltshire Council have agreed that none of the 6 publicly owned sites are suitable for sites for Gypsy & Travellers.
