Under the forthcoming Unitary Authority changes, some of the functions of the District council will be taken over by Area Boards. The Area Boards need to find out what it is the PEOPLE of Calne and surrounding villages want/need. The Calne Community Area Panel(CCAP) has been tasked find out. This task has been delegated to CAIAC. Yes that is the CAIAC of lantern and carnival fame.
How are CAIAC going to find out what the REAL people of Calne need/want/desire? Simple & novel. We're going to ask them.
HOW?
Over the next 8 weeks there will be a series of consultation opportunities where YOU Folks can say exactly what it is that you feel would benefit the town, local villages or the residents of both.
At various times, locations and events there will be about 8 flip charts set up on easels with various topic headings Law & Order, Economic, Environmental, Education etc. All you need to do is write your comment on a post it note (provided) and stick it on the appropriate board. You do not need to reveal your identity (unless you wish to). Just post your wish list. If your idea doesn't fit into any of the given categories, that's fine as we can raise a new topic.
You can see what other people have written. It is completely open as we record EXACTLY what is written on the notes. The results are being tabulated and analysed and the Area Board have committed to taking the most demanded item on as project to be introduced into the Calne Area.
Some of you may be thinking "That'll be the day..." I say OK, but if you don't ask you don't get. Shake off the apathy and say what you would like to see. This is your chance to HAVE YOUR SAY
There will be a consultation session at the Lansdowne on the 8th October and will run alongside the Lantern workshops especially in the village locations.
We have already carried out two consultation exercises (one at Crimestoppers Bowood and one at Party in the Park.)
On December 6th there will be an open day in Marden house when the analysis of the consultation exercise will be announced. More details will be announced nearer the date.
